I have so much fun doing what I like to do and that of course is riding woo-hoo!  I've been told I glow. There's nothing like the roar of an audience as we gallop by or to see the little kids faces with ther eyes wide open full of excitement.  What a thrill.  I am thankful to be riding with such a good group of girls.
I've been riding horses since I was a little girl.  My first memory of riding with my family I remember falling asleep on my pony on the way home.  Before I was even a teenager I was attempting tricks on my horse like jumping off and back on while the horse was moving.  Now I am able to enjoy riding with my daughter and grandaughters. One thing I've learned is how important it is to work with your horse on the ground and not just jump on and ride.  Being part of the Adirondack Cowgirls has allowed me to spend even more time doing what I enjoy.
I started riding at age seven and got my first horse at nine and have pretty much ridden ever since.  I've owned and trained my own horses since that first one and a few for other people.  I've been involved with 4-H Horse Clubs, first as a member, then as a leader.  For the last 3 years I have done the Rutland City Hippology Horse Program.  I ride English and Western and like both styles equally well.  I've had quite a bit of experience showing horses and riding in various competitions.  I can't imagine my life without a horse in it.
I have been riding horses for 10 years and joining the Adirondack Cowgirls has been a wonderful experience for me.  Everyone in our group is a joy to ride with.  They all help me to improve my riding skills and horsemanship.  Not only do we get together for drill team practice but we also get together for trail rides and Gymkhana events.  Dude is a wonderful horse and I enjoy being able to have him as my partner.
I am a wife, a mother of three (whom have grown up now) a daughter, a sister, a cook, cleaning women, laundress, book keeper, work outside my home and the list goes on, as do many of yours!!  Spending time with my horses and riding is the one thing I do completely and selfishly for me.  I have been riding again for about 12 years now.  I show in a few low key horse shows, trail ride mostly and have now joined the drill team,  (Thanks to Connie), and am enjoying it thoroughly!  If you used to ride and haven't in years or have been thinking about starting, take a few lessons, get your seat back and ride!!  I'm so glad I did!  It's better than .... well, most anything you can think of!
Fall 2007, I lost my equine partner, Maggie. I wanted to quit, but my teammates were all there for me, and helped me through a very tough time. My husband bought me my "dream horse", a 4 year old Rocky Mountain horse. Cazanova is now my partner, and he is helping me move on. We are formimg a deep bond, and learning the routines has been challenging for a young horse, but we are learning to be partners. If it weren't for the encouragement of my teammates, I might have quit something I love. I thank all of them, and especially my partner, Grace. She grounds me, and always helps me. Starting over was hard, but I couldn't ask for a better group of women to go through it with. When we perform, we all work together, and there's nothing like it when we nail it! I also want to thank Burchland Country Experience for giving us a place to start, and always being there for us as a team, and as friends. Being an Adirondack Cowgirl is something I am very proud to be a part of!

My name is "Butterkup" or Terry Haas.  I've been riding horses since I was a wee babe... before I could walk actually.  I spent 20 years riding motorcycles instead of horses.  Then along came Sonny, my 7 year old Quarter horse.  He needed a home and I guess I needed a horse.  So I purchased a house with a barn and my life is totally different from what I had imagined.  He was a 3 year old stud that had never been ridden, and now he's a 7 year old gelding that anyone can ride.  I am very proud of his progress especially since joining the Adirondack Cowgirls.  Sonny loves being in the drill team!  Ozark is a 14 year old Missouri Fox Trotter.  He is actually my Father's horse, but lives with me.  Ozark is my parade horse.  I love all the girls on the team, each and every one of them has helped me to remember something I've forgotten about horses or taught me something I didn't know.  I can see the Cowgirls are going somewhere and I intend to be a part of their success.  Ride it like you stole it!!      P.S. I still ride motorcycles, just a little less than I used to.
